
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup mung beans (monggo)
 - 1 cup glutinous (malagkit) rice
 - 1 can coconut milk
 - 1 can coconut cream
 - 2-4 cups water
 - 1/2 – 1 cup sugar
 
Instructions:
- Roast the mung beans: In a pan, cook the monggo over medium heat until lightly browned.
 - Crack the roasted monggo: Using a mortar and pestle, crack the roasted monggo into smaller pieces.
 - Sift the cracked monggo: Using a mesh sieve, shake the cracked monggo to remove any debris.
 - Cook the coconut milk mixture: In a large pot, combine coconut milk and water. Bring to a simmer.
 - Add the monggo and rice: Add the cracked monggo and glutinous rice to the pot. Mix well.
 - Cook and stir: Cover the pot, lower the heat, and cook for 20-25 minutes. Add water as needed.
 - Add coconut cream and sugar: Pour in coconut cream and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
 - Continue cooking: Cook for an additional 15 minutes, or until the monggo and rice are soft and creamy.
 - Serve: Serve the Ginataang Monggo hot and enjoy!
 
Note: This recipe is a traditional Filipino dessert. The name “Ginataang Monggo” literally means “mung beans cooked in coconut milk.”
