The Ultimate Italian Masterpiece: Million Dollar Lasagna

Indulge in the rich flavors of Italy with our show-stopping Million Dollar Lasagna, a layered masterpiece of tender meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients:
For the Meat Sauce:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Cheese Filling:

  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

For the Layers:

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, cook ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat. Add onions and garlic, cooking until soft. Stir in marinara sauce, tomato sauce, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the Noodles: Boil lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, mix ricotta, cream cheese, sour cream, egg, salt, black pepper, and parsley until smooth.
  4. Assemble the Lasagna: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, followed by lasagna noodles, then a layer of cheese mixture. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  5. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy the rich, creamy flavors of this Million Dollar Lasagna!
